AVLB Over the River
Army cargo trucks are rated for the amount of cargo they can carry across county, in the US Army.
So a 1 1/2 ton truck carries that much cargo across country.
But they carry twice as much on hard surface roads, the the 2 1/3 ton truck carries 5 tons on the road.
An army can never be sure where they will have to go.
So they gotta be prepared to go anywhere, even over rivers.
Even when threatened with air attack.
Even without the presence of major commanders.
So specialized vehicles, like bridge launchers are a must.
They are also the last ones over the river.
Welcome readers from New Zealand.

Very cool! I've never seen that AVLB before. Would have had a blasts with that back in the day. When does it date to?
Most MPC toys come from the 1960s. I had many of them as a kid, but the AVLB is a recent purchase. It is likely at least 50 years old.
