Operation Anvil Part 3

 

This is an OT-10 halftrack that has been converted back into an SdKfz 251 WWII German halftrack.

I think it is a great looking vehicle, and it appears brand new.

It's not even dusty!

A nice thing about reenactments is you can see the actual equipment and nothing is as good for research as that.  You really understand the size, shape, and tiny details that are missing in a model.

They also had this motorcycle rolling around, it was surprisingly quiet.

Tents made from ponchos, with helmet on top to keep out the rain.

More Operation Anvil reenactment photos from Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA, home of the Corvette car.

Jeeps, they had at least five there.  Each one in factory perfect condition.

Back end of an M5A1, I think, light tank.  Note the perfect rubber blocks on the spare track.  Very black.

Excellent tank, I really liked it.

It is amazing how small WWII light tanks are compared to a tank today.

I went to a WWII reenactment this weekend. 

 

 

Operation Anvil, the second time they have run this event in Bowling Green, KY.

 

About 100 people there in authentic military or civilian attire.

Two WWII era German anti-tank guns were present.

Both a 37mm and a 75mm.
