The first two KITT cars.
Rear view, the more expensive version on the right and it does look better.
The cast, Reginald Cornelius, Michael Knight, Devon Miles, April Curtis, DR Bonnie Barstow.
I made the figures from the inexpensive figures that I buy on Amazon. A couple got head swaps also.
The bases are metallic gray on top, which is my code for them being a Named Character in a book, comic, television show, or movie.
The tiny name tags are a font size 6 and are secured with 5 minute epoxy glue.

KITT IV
This is the expensive version of KITT II. Note it says KITT again on the front.
I like the bright red much better than the orange.
The wheels are better than the other version of this car.
Note also the vertical red here, no vertical orange on the other car.
Once again the windows are too smokey to see much inside.
The bottom is metal, and look how nice the tires are.

KITT II
This one is labelled as KIRR.
It is supposed to be an upgraded version of KITT. Note the name on the front of the hood.
This one is the inexpensive version with the plastic bottom.
I don't know how much it looks like KITT but it is a nice looking car.
Nice rear view with the orange interior plastic showing through both the front and the rear.
You can almost see the interior.
I tried a strong light shining inside and you can see it in real life but it does not show up well on camera.
The underside is pretty good too, I think. So now I have three versions of KITT.

Two KITT Cars
Hot Wheels makes special collectors editions of some cars.
The cardboard backer and the plastic bubble are much thicker than the normal cars.
The models inside are better than the usual models.
But the basic model is the same.
The big difference is the wheels. The wheels are rubber and have treads on them, much nicer than the regular model.
Often the paint jobs are better, but since the KITT is just a shiny black car this one is not much different. The rear license plate is different, and both versions have a nice, legible license.
You can see how shiny the paint job is on this car.
The base on these cars is also metal, compared to plastic on most of the regular cars. You can see the treads on the tires in this view.
Here are both versions, side by side.

KITT
Years ago there was a TV show called Knight Rider.
The premise was a former police officer with the backing of a millionaire and a super car went around the county fighting crime.
The super car was called KITT. It was a modified Pontiac Firebird Trans Am called the Knight Industries Two Thousand.I worked in Hollywood at the time and saw the real cars a few times. They had the Hero car, the original one used most of the time, and then several extras that had fancy special accessories that allowed them to perform special stunts or to be used for close ups.
They were the shiniest, blackest cars I have ever seen, they were beautiful.
Movie cars have a full time attendant, sometimes several who spend the whole day wiping off dust, cleaning the tires and the window glass so they always appear perfect on screen.

So when I saw this Hot Wheels version I just had to pick it up, even though I only watched the show a few times. While it was okay, I was never a big fan.
