Police Chopper

Matchbox has been making a number of police related sets in the last couple years.
I am doing two sets of  police, one for the East Coast, USA and the other for the West Coast.

My plan is to use HO 1/87 scale vehicles for up to about 1998 and 1/64th scale vehicles for 2008 and more recently.

This set comes with this generic helicopter.  I don't recognize it as being a specific helicopter, but I am no expert in small helicopters.
I am considering painting over the windows and calling it a drone.
But maybe not.
This will likely be part of my East Coast police.
Mostly based on New York Police Department as agencies in the vicinity.
Not a bad looking model.
I probably won't change it much, unless I add a spotlight or other sensors.
Here with a 1/72nd scale police officer from Dark Alliance.

Mounted Amazons

The 1/72nd scale Modern Amazons come on two sets, infantry and cavalry.
The mounted figures come with fantastical animals that are very well done, a unicorn, velociraptor, large deer, lion, and tiger.  I gave them the unicorns, but I have repurposed the other animals.
I combed through the American Indian horses from Imex and Revell to give them new horses.
Big horses, and little horses.
I think these work better for Amazons.

Amazons in Vegas

Dark Alliance Modern Amazons.
One of each pose of the infantry figures.  1/72nd scale soft plastic figures.
This pose seems to be of limited utility on the battlefield but is an interesting pose none the less.  So I added a slightly larger base so she would stand up better and disarmed her.
Then sent her and her sister to Las Vegas where they dance two shows a night and an extra matinee on the weekends.
There is also a singer.
In the spotlight with a standing room only crowd.
This large battle ax seems a bit too much as well.  So it went away and the sword was cut down to a knife.  Now in each case, I am keeping representative samples of the original figure so that the Amazons will still have the diversity of pose and weapons as the full set.  Just not as many of some of  the poses.
Maybe pair her with Ka-Zar, Lord of the Hidden Jungle?
Or maybe Lance Hale?
Or maybe Tarzan of the Apes as Jane?

Modern Amazons II

The Dark Alliance Modern Amazons.
The detail is very nice, yo can see the little links on the chain mail.
Since I do collect super heroes, and Wonder Woman has been around since World War Two as a super hero it seemed only natural that I would get these for use as Paradise Island dwellers.
Since WW is a fictional character, the fact that these Amazons are less "realistic" than would be typical for ancient Greek Amazons, I am not concerned about their lack of period weapons, armor and attire.
Since having made it to the modern age it would seem to me their weapons may also have progressed, or at least changed in 2,000 years or so.
The poses all together.  You get 40 figures in a box, ten poses, four of each.  I culled a couple individual figures for other purposes.

Modern Amazons

Dark Alliance 1/72nd scale Modern Amazons.
They are modern in the sense that they are depicted as they might be in a 21st Century video game or movie rather than in an ancient mosaic or clay jar.
They seem to have rather generic armor and clothing, and the weapons seem oversized for the figures.
They all have the same size base, which is a problem for the figures with a big ax, they fall over easily.
All of them had some flash and it took a while to whittle it all off.
I used a fresh blade about every three or four figures.  Used blades go into the used blades box where they are utilized to cut things like resin or soft metal which really kills a blade.
Not a bad set, plenty of variety from axes, swords, polearms and a bow.

Still More Anubus

A good action figure.
Missile weapon which is nice so they are not limited to close combat.
Pretty large bow so likely good range and armor penetration.
Heavy pole arm.
This would likely be a very dangerous close in weapon.
Many of the figures have multiple weapons.
This whole set is very nice, I think.
Ten poses does not seem like a lot, but it actually not bad for such an unusual subject.

More Anubus

These Anubis figures are 1/72nd scale but are a bit larger than most human figures of that scale, which I think is fine.
They come with a nice selection of weapons.
They should be easy to paint.
Most of the figures are pretty active.
These could be good cultists, particularly in a pulp game that takes place in the first 60 years of the 20th Century.
I like the dog tails!
A little flash on the elbow but it's so thin as to be clear and it not hard to remove.
