Gotham City Police

A set of Batman related cars from Hot Wheels.
I don't buy these sets often.
But the cars in this set seems pretty good.
I am building a Gotham City Police Department.
So getting their police cars seems a good idea.
I have seven of these sets so I have seven of these cars.
My plan is that Gotham is a rather small portion of a larger urban area.
It has it's own police and with mutual aid and a memorandum of understanding with other agencies has full authority with it's neighboring cities.
The car has decent underside detail.
Top has a sun roof rather than a light bar which seems odd.
Still it seems a good car with a few cops in the photo by Red Box in 1/72nd scale.

Big Knife

The police arrive.
Michael retreats to the porch.
He paces on the porch.
Police cars stacked up.
Cops move around.
Brandishing a big knife.

The Artillery Fires

Everyone fires their gun at the monster.
The artillery commander takes careful observations.
Militiamen move up around the Addams house.
 A clear shot!
Bang, bang, bang.  Three rounds in three seconds!  The creature falls on it's back.
Three quick hits!
The men blow their bugle and wave their helmets in celebration, the monster is defeated.

Halloween 1898

The monster is not yet in a good position  to fire the artillery at yet!
The story so far, a giant lizard is approaching the city.  The city police have responded, an automobile from the Army and a battery of artillery from the City Militia is set up and ready.
The local town militia have started arriving and move between the buildings to get the monster in a cross fire.
The police are holding the line.
Men from the State Militia have also shown up!
A small group of people from the neighborhood have refused to evacuate and are watching the goings on.
Some men with rifles take on the monster!

October 31, 1898

Who called the cops?
Police van and an officer respond to a phone call of a disturbance.
The disturbance looks around the corner!
More cops show up and talk to the neighbors.
They move to confront the beast, revolvers at the ready.
He seems unimpressed!

Police

Red Box Policemen and Citizens in 1/72nd scale.
I got a few of these several years ago and now I got two more sets.
About half of the figures are uniformed police.
Several of the others could be police detectives.
In rural America, from about 1880 to now, these people could be a posse or at least for the period from 1880 to about 1940 a couple of the men could even be a sheriff.  Many sheriffs did not wear uniforms, as such, until about 1940.
A very useful group of armed civilians, the woman is rather dated as few would dress like this after 1960.
Police in any big city could look like this from about 1920 until 1970.
Even then a simple head swap with a bare headed figure would add perhaps another 10 years to their usefulness.  American police generally gave up the revolver after 1980 in favor of semi-automatic handguns.

Gotham City PD

This is a rebranded Hot Wheels truck.
They have used this truck several times before and it's a great truck.
Now it is marked as a Gotham City Police vehicle.
It's a good sturdy model.
I like the logos on the sides very much.
Police agencies often have trucks like this that carry extra gear for special events and emergencies.
They carry every thing from riot gear, to ammo, to traffic cones.
Often they are older trucks that were hand me downs from the Fire Department or City Services.
They are almost as essential to police work as the daily cruiser cars.
