Shovel It

Sometimes a figure set will come with poses that are not very useful.  This Airfix WWI American is not that useful.  In a set with 48 figures you get two of this pose.
I think one would be enough and when you buy ten sets, you end up with 20 of them.
So I cut off the gun and drilled out the spot where the gun went.
Then took a left over Roco shovel and used it to create an engineer figure.
Or a forest ranger, or just some guy on latrine duty.

Haunted Mansion

Funko Pop Pop Town Haunted Mansion roof view.
It has a nice railing around the top of the roof.
This side is very plain.
But the front is ornate.
Nice pillars in front too.

Funko Disneyland Building

The Haunted Mansion in the plastic box.
It comes with a butler figure.
I don't collect these figures so it will likely go away.
This is an insert from the inside of the box.
Made in Vietnam, not my first choice, but better than Communist China.

Haunted Mansion Funko Pop Town

This Funko Pop set is the Haunted Mansion attraction from Disneyland.
I got this from Amazon.
It had a damaged box and a price discount.
They put this big sticker on the bottom of the box.
The top of the box had a big plastic bit cut out of it.  Since I don't actually collect them as such, I just buy them to get the building to use in my Disneyland model or as a general building.

Infantry Advances

The Martians landed in 1918 and most of the US Army was either at the Mexican border or overseas in Europe.
So heavy guns that had been pulled out of depot were used in the USA as field artillery.
The US troops prepare to fire.
It's a big gun, but the crew is about the same as a field gun.
The infantry move up under the cover of the heavy artillery.
The officer on horseback is commanding from up front.
The big gun supports that advance.

Recoilless Rifle

M18 recoilless rifle from Strelets with eight per box.
There are four identical sprues with two per sprue.
This set has a great crew too.
This is a great figure set, no flash and figures are very well done.
Seven different poses for the crew including a radio operator.
Type 36 was a nearly identical weapon made by Communist China and used by the NVA and Viet Cong during the Vietnam War.
The line up.
These recoilless rifles had a one or two man crew.  Two men to carry the rifle and tripod.

Boer War Artillery

Here is the Boer War crew for the Strelets Cresout Long Tom gun.
Back side.  I intend to use the gun as a US 5 inch siege gun model 1890.  I will likely make a US crew from an ACW crew or a British colonial crew.
The crew in action.
Note the little stand for the crewman to stand on to take a sighting.
Close up.
These figures are very well detailed.
And they have a lot of character.
People checking the maps for long range fire.

Cresout Gun

This gun is very similar to a 5 inch gun that was in US service at the same time.
I tried to find out if the US gun was a license built version of this gun because they look so much alike.
But I could not find anything about it.
5-inch Siege Gun 1890, 70 were made and although mobilized for combat in the Spanish American War none actually made it into combat.

Several were later taken to the Philippines and Hawaii but were disposed of in the 1920s as obsolete.  A battery of these cannons was four guns towed by eight horses each.
