Atomic Annie Prepares to Fire
The T-92 tank is the lasted 76mm gun tank in US Army inventory.
The gun has been cranked into the traveling position.
The crew extends the barrel into the firing position.
The tans are too far forward for firing and must move back to avoid the blast.
They are not at a safe location.
The infantry has also pulled back to a safe location.

Prepare to Fire
The men are all in place.
The massive barrel is raised into firing position.
Last minute aiming adjustments are made.
The men are nervous, but ready.
The soldiers are prepared for the blast.
Turn away for the extreme flash.

Atomic Cannon Ready to Fire
Looking out for the enemy.
High places are good for observation, even damaged buildings.
Peeking out.
Danger on every floor.
The atomic cannon is ready to fire.

Supplies
Before the rocket attack, this building was a large government building.
The building was actually behind the American lines.
So the enemy rockets fell on empty buildings.
Now the troops have pulled forward in an effort to conduct a spoiling attack.
The front line troops are re-supplied by man carried supplies.
The lack of vehicles means the troops can be re-supplied more surreptitiously.
Still, it's a dangerous business to sneak in during broad daylight.

Atomic Cannon and Obaservation Posts
The atomic cannon is pulled into position.
The enemy fired rockets on this area last night.
The observation team is monitoring a large concentration of enemy troops.
The logistics people have sent up more ammunition.
The observations are sent back to the fire direction center.
Snipers also observe the enemy movements.
An attack is likely, and soon.

Atomic Artillery
The US Army Atomic Cannon.
Sometimes called Atomic Annie.
The M65 was a 280mm cannon that could fire conventional or atomic projectiles.
These were developed in only about three years.
The US Army completed about 20 Atomic Cannons.
They were deployed to Korea, Europe, and the USA.
They could operate alone, in batteries of two or four.

Atomic Annie
The Atomic Cannon was towed by two similar tractors.
This one was the rear end vehicle.
Having a driver and the ability to steer from both ends made the vehicle able to negotiate the narrow roads of European cities.
Front tractor. The tower in the background is a replica of one used to explode the "Gadget."
These monster guns were shipped to Korea, Europe, and stationed here in the USA.
An interesting vehicle, made obsolete when nuclear projectiles got small enough for 8 inch guns.
