172nd scale Ruff Puffs from Haron in soft plastic.
During the Vietnam War the South Vietnamese government formed local militia units.
They were issued older weapons and equipment to defend their homes.
It was a good idea to enable the local folks to defend themselves, but often they were not able to stand up to better trained and equipped enemy troops.
By the time reinforcements arrived it was often too late. These are great figures and have a lot of other uses. They can work for most any small military force equipped with American equipment during the Cold War era.

Group Photo
Haron 1/72nd scale plastic Viet Cong.
I like that this set is mostly combat poses.
Pole charge to blow up barbed wire or bunker or tank.
Gotta get close.
One of each from the set.

Blow It
The trumpet can be heard well above the din of battle and can be used to give commands when the voice cannot be heard.
The Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army used many weapons supplied by the Soviet Union, Communist China, North Korea, Poland, Romania, Yugoslavia, and most other communist nations.
Some of their weapons were licensed or even unlicensed copies of Communist made weapons.
They also used a lot of captured weapons.
The variety of weapons in this set is good, with most of the common types.
And the figures are carrying a lot of gear which was often typical.

Who Is In the Wire?
A second leader figure.
This way camrades.
Prone sniper.
Or waiting in ambush?
Grenadier, just throw grenades.
In close quarters battle grenades often kill more troops than rifles.

Advancing
Haron Viet Cong with SMG.
Probably and NCO pointing.
He has a rocket launcher.
Very good pose and very useful to have the heavy weapon.
Heavily laden and wearing sandals.
Very good figure and I like the advancing pose.

ARVN
Vietnam War Army of the Republic of South Vietnam.
I like that these troops are skinny guys.
The prone ammo man is not useful for the crouching machine gunner!
These will work for many US equipped troops from the 1960s and 1970s.
They fit in nicely with the old Esci NVA troops.

ARVN
Haron ARVN troops for the late war period.
1/72nd scale plastic.
This is the primary sprue.
Other side.
And you also get a small command group of these three poses, one of each.
