Readers Digest Fire Truck

For some unknown reason, Readers Digest magazine sold fire truck models years ago.
This is one of them, one of my friends sent me.
It's a nice model.
And you can't have too many fire trucks.
It matches Race Bannons shirt.

County Rescue Car

This is a Matchbox car that has been sold in other liveries in the past.
It is a fire department car.
No front painting, I may touch that up.
I am planning on creating several specific police departments and fire departments.
So this one will have to have the name changed and maybe even get stripped completely.
It is a nice car to start with.
Minor undercarriage detail.
Good detail on the sides.
Computer on the front dashboard.
Hard to see in the photos but it is a great detail.
One of the other versions.

Ambulance Van

Matchbox ambulance.
Big box ambulance.
Often used for paramedics.
The box is big enough to stand up inside.
I have also seen older versions of this in use by police agencies.
It would likely make a nice camper too!
It's a good model, with a metal base.
The top is plain, usually the blinky lights are on the sides and front and rear of the box but not on the top.
Matchbox makes several versions of this with different paint jobs but this is the newest I have seen.  I got a few of them and may repaint or at least remark them.

Fire Truck

Matchbox has had some really great vehicles lately.
It seems I can't go to the store without picking some up.
This light duty fire truck is my most recent buy.
The sides are well painted but the rear and top need work.
It will end up on my racetrack I think.
And the front needs paint too.
I think the back end could be removed and would look good one some earlier vehicles also.
I may check that out and perhaps buy a couple more for conversion work.
But I like this one a lot.

Fire Police

That tan Opel Blitz firetruck also comes in green.

The Fire Police responded all over Germany in the event of large fires.

They used this dark green color on their vehicle with the Fire Police emblem on their door.

The fire department is having trouble containing the blaze.

The fire police arrive to help fight the fires.

That added manpower and equipment will help save this quarter of the city.

Opel Blitz Firetruck

A Roco Opel Blitz fire truck.

HO 1/87th scale.

As a result of the Allied air raids the Germans had a huge need for fire trucks.

The great Opel Blitz truck made a very good fire truck.

It is a wonderful model from Roco, lots of great detail, ladder, and hose reel.

Nice undercarriage and comes in two colors.

September 11 Attacks

Today is September 11.

18 years ago terrorists attacked the United States.

I salute our brave police, fire, and military personnel and pray for their protection.

Fire Truk and Bus

Visited a swap meet / toy show the other day.

They had a Grateful Dead bus.

Not sure why someone would make a Grateful Dead bus, but here is one.

It may be repainted.

I also got these two old timer vehicles.

The fire truck is a real truck, not a suped up hot rod.  It's a Athern-Fox made between about 1924 and 1930 they look about the same.  They stayed in service until at least the 1960s with many agencies.

That's a long time fighting fires.  I may get a few more.
