Christmas Trucks

Over the last few years I gathered a bunch of these little Christmas trucks from Hobby Lobby.  They have a hole in the roof that held a loop so it could be hung from the Christmas tree.  The bed had a Christmas tree glued to the back and there is an air hole in the tail gate of these hollow trucks.  They were covered in glitter paint.  I hate glitter.
I have been filling the holes on the roof of most of them and the tailgate hole on all of them.  The roof hole gets filled with a plastic disk and super glue and then sanded down.  It's a very thin resin model.
Some of them are rather wonky, I think the paint remover caused sag on them.
This truck has a ring around the roof, and I have left it alone.  A couple of these trucks will be Army trucks with a machine gun in the roof and this one, I built out the truck bed.
Some will become police trucks, others US Army and US Navy and a few civilian trucks.

Corbett Trucks

While much of my time has been spent on the James Bond, Thunderball, Kiss Kiss Club, I have not forgotten the Roco.  I have been painting my Corbett trucks and a few other trucks too.
These will tow my 4.5 inch guns that I converted from the Roco 155mm howitzer.
I spray painted the trucks some time ago but now it's time to do the wheels.
Paul Heiser Models resin HO scale 2 1/2 ton truck, with the spare tires behind the cab as the artillery towing version.  Troops tend to overload trucks so by putting the spare tires behind the cab and shortening the bed they could lessen the likelihood that troops would load too much ammo in the bed and overload the truck.  This is what happens when I fail to stir the paint enough, the flat green comes out gloss green.  It was a new jar that needed extra stirring that it did not get.  A quick application of Tamiya clear flat fixed it.  Winch and windshields also need painting.

You can just see the barrel of the 4.5 inch gun.  They had a long recoil and part of the barrel was silver, and unpainted in real life.

Primered Truck

Old time truck, primer painted.  Note the rear axle is still installed, the disc at the end is a pin from one of the bricks that has been cut off of the brick.  I drilled a hole in the pin and use it as an inside spacer to hold the wheel away from the side of the truck.  The front axle will have one also.
You can see the interlocking bricks on the bottom.
Fenders have been added, they are Evergreen plastic tubing that has been cut up into arches.
Steering wheel, seats and side rails to the seats are visible.
This is the paint I used.  My plan is to paint these several colors so I am priming some gray and some white.
Rust-Oleum makes several versions of some of their paints, but this is the specific Flat White I used for this project.

Small Trucks

First pattern Christmas tree pick up truck compared to the new red truck version.
One piece truck, smooth bottom.
1/72nd scale US Army soldier from Strelets.
I kept the beads from the bottom of the tree.  I will likely find something to use them for eventually.

I got two packs of them.  They look like utility trucks to me, so probably two for the Army, one for the Navy and the rest for the Phone Company.

Water Bottle Truck

Waterbottle truck.
I like this model a lot.
Look at those bottles, great looking plastic bottles.
Trucks like this are common in cities where offices often use bottled water.
The back has been essentially the same for 50 years, just replace the cab.
Although the cab is pretty similar for a long time too.
Rather odd looking from above.
Plastic bottom.
Good truck, I got a couple of them for my modern American city.

Christmas Truck Part II

Hobby Lobby Christmas truck with tree.
Step one, remove the tree.  I just gently pulled on it and the tree came off.
The peg and loop that held the tree in was affixed to the truck with hot glue and with a little pulling the whole thing came apart.
Here is the truck next to one of my existing pick up trucks.
The detail is soft and the cab is a bit tall.
There is a hole in the tailgate.  I think these problems and the glitter can be resolved.  My plan is to see if I can remove the glitter, and then resin cast the truck.  Too fragile in glass to use for a wargame model.  Over all think the new truck is usable.  Some will likely go to the military and some to civilian use, we shall see.  Right now I am soaking them in different chemicals to get the glitter off of the model.

Shark Mobile

This is a shark tank truck.
Taking new sharks to Palmyra for Mr. Largo.
The truck is not really a very good model but the shark tank is cool and the shark a great model.
The tank is removable and the shark can be played with separately.
I like the blue tint on the tank to give the impression of it being filled with water.
Wheels are the weakest part of the model, I may swap them out to improve the look of the truck.
