Crane Truck

Filament Fighters bomb truck, HO, 1/87 scale 3d printed model.

It comes unassembled but with careful planning, and looking at these photos it's not too hard to figure out how it all goes together.

The model is very sturdy despite the thin pieces.

I think that is one advantage of using filament rather than resin, some of the resins can be fragile, others are not.

The models are sold unpainted and unassembled, and work out pretty well.

I love the wide range of kits no one else has done before, like this little truck.
 

Burma Jeep Crane

This is a bomb handling crane version of the Burma Jeep, by Filament Fighters.

The US Marines and US Navy used a lot of these in the Pacific.

Most of those little islands captured by the Marines were intended to be use as unsinkable aircraft carriers.

So they needed durable and compact vehicles to service the bombers.

 So cranes like this one would carry bombs from the bunkers to the aircraft or from ships to storage, they could also tow strings of bombs on little carts behind the truck.

Rear side view of the Burma Jeep.

These were used in the Pacific and in Burma.

They could be broken down into compact crates and assembled on site, to save on shipping space.

Perfect for sending to small islands or to work the Burma Road, where shipping space and road widths were at a premium.

Nice undercarriage.  Many, but not all, of the Filament Fighters have a detailed undercarriage, which is a nice touch.
 

Burma Jeep

The Ford GTB was also known as the Burma Jeep.

It was a cargo truck used by the US Armed Forces in WWII.

There were many versions, most were to carry cargo, like this one.

It is one of the Filament Fighters sold by Fidelis Models, in HO 1/87 scale.

It is an easy to assemble kit and turned out rather nice I think.
