Tommy Tomahawk, and Johnny Cloud
For the last couple years I have been collecting data on WWII and other American patriotic super heroes. Several of them are American Indians.
Two of those are United States Army Air Forces pilots. Tommy Tomahawk and Johnny Cloud.
Johnny Cloud sees a vision of clouds in the shape of an Indian riding a mustang in the sky and that's how is gets his name.
He naturally grows up to fly P-51 Mustang fighter planes against the Germans in World War Two.
Johnny Cloud, Navajo pilot serves mostly with White men and typically wears a regular Army uniform.
However, his cloud vision does appear to him during the war, many times, and he uses his inspiration to defeat his enemies. I cut this one out of plastic milk jug and hung it up on a bit of wire. I will use it to give him a bonus in combat against his enemies.
In Tommy Tomahawk, however, he is a Cherokee and most of the men in his squadron are also Cherokee. He serves primarily in the Pacific and his men wear various combinations of traditional and military dress.
So I converted a few of the Airfix USAAF figures into men for his squadron, using various bits from Revell and Imex Indians. Naturally, Tommy Tamahawk flies the P-40, Warhawk, naturally.

Little Sure Shot
GI Joe from the comic book SGT Rock and the Combat Happy Joes of Easy Company comes....
Little Sure Shot, the American Indian member of the company. I was blessed to get him when they were brand new and not too expensive.
The figure is a classic GI Joe body but with a new head sculpt to look like the comic book figure.
The plastic is a distinctive red skin tone. The uniform is very good, highly detailed, more than usual for a standard GI Joe. Boots are very WWII looking, brown with leggings molded on them. He also comes with an American flag armband worn by US troops in Operation Torch, the invasion of North Africa.
The figure also comes with his signature three red tipped white feathers. I taped them to the back of the helmet, there is no way to attach them. I may have to re-position the helmet strap from under the chin to the rear of the helmet to hold them in place. He comes with a very nice M1 rifle.

War Stories
Ever since I was a kid I loved reading comic books, and Star Spangled War Stories feature the War the Time Forgot were some of my favorite.
Sure these dinosaurs are four to ten times the size science tells us they are supposed to be, but science has been wrong before.
Besides a 40 pound pterodactyl is no treat, but one with a 300 foot wingspan is very threatening!
In these comics dinosaurs came from the sky, the ground, the tropics and the arctic, and the Army, Navy and sometimes even the Japanese had to deal with them.
I think is the real story behind PT-109.

WonderCon Figures
Since I have always been a fan of the Fantastic 4 I have been getting several figures to use them in a wargame.
Galactus is one of the biggest 1/72nd scale figures in my collectus.
He is a force of nature who is the devourer of worlds.
Here he is with his Herald, the Silver Surfer. I got them at WonderCon.
Shown here with a variety of 1/72nd scale figures. I like the idea of using these figures in several different historical eras.

WonderCon
MRS Bunkermeister and I went to WonderCon this last weekend. It's like ComicCon, only it was in Orange County, across the street from Disneyland this year.
I picked up The Thing from the Fantastic 4, in 28mm as a HeroClix item, I cut him off the base. I will rebase him later because I don't use the HeroClix system. I also think Ben Grimm should be a bit larger than often depicted and so a 28mm version looks good in 1/72nd scale to me. I might repaint him so he is more orange.
Got the Silver Surfer also. I will rebase him too. I might also swap out the flame hands with regular hands. I have even considered swapping out the figure for a different pose. On the other hand, how big is a Silver Surfer in 1/72nd scale?
The Con was huge, there were a lot of people there. Parking was terrible, we had to park at the Garden Walk and it was about a mile to the ticket booth / check in and we had to walk. We were not happy about that! I did pick up a few other items as well.
