These make good troops on the battlefield.
No real flash, figures stand up well.
I intend to take the 8 pointed cap guy and give him to my Marines.
And three of the Marines will come to the Special Forces group.
Extra ammo for the machine gun was always important but wearing it could cause it to get dirty and foul the weapons. Hit the deck, when you are in a muddy rice paddy will not help this ammunition feed well.
This guy just looks sneaky.

Special Forces From Mars
Mars US Special Operations Forces (GREEN BERETS) Vietnam War.
54mm figures in plastic.
It is interesting that a set labelled Green Berets has no figure wearing a beret.
It does has a couple people who are rather Rambo in their attire, such as this one with the head scarf. Machine gun ammo is usually carried in pouches rather than Mexican bandit style. Ammo exposed can become damaged and fail to function.
The previous figure and this figure are plausible rather than common in real life. Still both are good figures, well posed and with useful weapons.
M2 carbine with banana magazine.
This looks like a short barrel M16 variant which was carried by Special Forces.
This figure looks more like a standard infantryman rather than anything specific to Special Forces.

Marines or Army?
Mars US Marines Vietnam War set. Again, I think this figure is an anomaly. Like the two I mentioned yesterday, I think he is a US Army Special Forces soldier. He does not have body armor on, like Marines usually wear, and he is using a pump action shotgun. Not typical for Marines in Vietnam.
Mars always does a great job letting us know what is in each set and showing painting instructions as well on the back of the box.
The front of the box.
Two figures from the set that I think are not Marines but US Army. I am not an expert on the Marines in Vietnam. So I can't tell from the patter of the shirt pockets, or the web gear if they are wearing authentic gear or specific Army or Marine Corp gear.
But these guys are going to figure predominately in my Special Forces troops in the future.
The figures in this set are a chubby 54mm size. Note them next of a 60mm Tim Mee man with a rifle and bayonet, and an MPC ring hand figure. I will use them together as I think they are close enough in size to be okay together.

In Country
The new M16 rifle is quick and handy.
M16 is very popular, keep it clean and it works great.
Don't bunch up.
One man steps on a mine he kills his buddy if they are too close.
The shotgun is great at close range.
As Special Forces we get the newest equipment and we get to carry whatever we want.M16 is very popular, keep it clean and it works great.

GI Joe Action Soldier, Green Beret
Advance scout, point man.
In the tall grass he carries a shotgun at the ready and wears body armor.
Visibility is not always this good.
Danger lurks everywhere.
Not just the enemy, but the jungle too.

GI Joe Action Soldier Green Beret New Base
Sometimes it can be hard to get GI Joe to stand up.
Many of mine are old and the elastic is not good which does not help.
But most doll stands are white and look terrible in photos.
So I camouflage painted mine so they are now officially Action Figure stands.
Close up of the olive drab and brown base, with the light olive green upper.

GI Joe Action Soldier Green Beret
It's 1962 and American Green Beret soldiers are fighting Communist guerillas in the Republic of South Vietnam.
This Green Beret Action Soldier carries a pump action shotgun as his primary weapon.
He also carries a new M79 grenade launcher on his back.
The three man team carries a variety of weapons and wears several styles of uniform.
It's called Unconventional Warfare and these men excel in it's application.
The camouflage uniform provides protection from observation in the jungle wilderness.
