Dr. No Dragon

In the movie Dr. No with James Bond there is a dragon.

Dr. No has a sort of tank built in the shape of a dragon.

His plan is to keep local superstitious Caribbean people from snooping around on his island.

About 50 years ago Gilbert Toys made a couple James Bond sets.

The dragon has a secret, it shoots flame out the front, with a little help from rubber bands.

 I was lucky enough to get this from eBay this week, very nice toy, and in perfect condition.

Dragon

The Slavic dragon was fire breathing.

The dragon model came with a bit of fire that can be placed in two of the mouths.

An old Roco WWII German Tiger I tank for scale.

The dragon is large but not gigantic.

Slavic Dragon

Zmey Gorynych is the Slavic three-headed, green, fire breathing dragon.

 This is the repainted Fire Dragon from Safari, Ltd.

It looked to me like it would be a good model for the Slavic dragon.

I wanted the mouth to be very red so it would set off the very white teeth.

The dragon is a good size for use with 1/72nd scale figures.  There are stories as recent as WWII of a dragon bringing down a German airplane.

Fantasy Dragon

While the yellow and orange dragon is colorful, it did not fit my image of a dragon.

So I sprayed it with primer and then with two different, but similar shades of green from Tamiya.

The underside is ever so slightly ligher than the top side.

Both sides of the dragon will be very glossy.

The complex pose of the dragon made getting into every tiny fold very difficult.

I took parts of three days to paint the green.

It turned out exactly like I wanted it to look.

Went to Michaels the other day.

I had a coupon.

Found this Safari, Ltd, Fire Dragon.

Molded in bright colors and painted well.

It has three heads and breathes fire.

Makes a nice opponet for this 1/72nd scale St. Michael.
