US Navy Raiders

Matchbox WWII US Army heads put on Matchbox WWII British Commandos.
My intention is to use these as US Navy landing parties.  The few figures with a square base are second edition Airfix British Commandos and rather rare.
I specifically selected figures with US weapons, the revolver was use by US troops in WWI and WWII, the M1917 .45 ACP revolver was common in both wars.
The US Navy did a lot of commando type operations in the Pacific particularly.
They destroyed Japanese navigational aids, light houses, and radio equipment.
They also did reconnaissance prior to amphibious landings to insure the beaches were suitable.
So here are a dozen US Navy figures, perfect to guard a naval base, or perform a commando raid.
I like having small units of unusual troops to supplement my larger collections.  It makes for interesting small scenarios or small parts of large scenarios.

Computer Gear

The computer room is a crowded and busy place on board ship.

Then you add a crewmember as large as Robby its even more crowded.

The Chief keeps his men and machines busy.

The latest and most up to date computer gear is in this room.

It requires skilled operators.

Soldiers Deploy for Danger

US Army and US Naval landing parties take the field.

Danger approaches from the south!

When I joined the Navy, this is not what I signed up for!

Towed artillery is ready.

Some of the men stood guard duty last night and are sleeping.

One of the local ranchers showed up to protect his home.

MPC in Blue

MPC soldiers in blue.

Originally sold in blue as USMC and they came in a yellow sand sifter for beach play.

They also were sold in green.

I use the blue ones as a naval landing party of blue jackets.

The figures were very thin, probably as a cost cutting measure.

They had really good detail, like the helmet mesh.

Nice folds in the clothing.

The radio man and the walking soldier at sling arms look similar from a distance.

I like the various packs they carry.

Tim Mee Cold War Jets

Tim Mee Toys Cold War Jet Fighters set includes two jets from the early Cold War era.

The first one is this F11 US Navy fighter plane.

The F11 Tiger was in service with the US Navy from 1956 to 1966.

They were the Navys second super sonic fighter plane, and carried four 20mm cannons.

This toy jet has only four parts, three wheels and the rest of the plane.

The real jet was almost 50 feet long and the model scales out to a hair over 1/72nd scale.

The model is a bit underpowered!  The plastic is very durable and the light gray works great for Navy planes.

The size of the jet works well with 1/72nd scale figures. The model comes with stickers that I did not apply.

Looks like I may have to start collecting Navy Cold War jets.  Thanks Tim Mee for the review sample.

Dispute

The SEAL team drives their mini-subs up onto the hard surface beach.

Who disturbs my beach?

The SEAL team disputes the claim of the lizard that it's his beach.

The SEAL team wins the argument.
