Chaffee Company Plus

A mass of Chaffee tanks.

Note the yellow bridge weight classification on the bow.

Each platoon has a unique combination of track colors, and markings.

One of the platoons is nice and clean.

Another one is a bit rusty.

The third platoon is dirty and rusty.

Three platoons of five tanks each, two HQ tanks.  One five tank platoon for my reconnaissance unit.  And one additional division HQ tank.

Simply awesome! Did the US Army actually have that many Chaffees? :=) The way you organized your tank platoons is rather commendable. Did the platoon attached to the recon element have any distinguishing markings?

A very nice job, indeed!

The US Army ordered 6,000 and before the war ended and contracts were cancelled, they got over 4,700 manufactured. At least 34 made it to Europe as early as November, 1944. Over 1,100 made it to US Army units in Europe before the end of the war.
The recon element has dark rusty tracks, and a "bumper" marking of "CAV" on the front.
Thanks for commenting Celtic.

I haven't had the Chaffee on my focus too. But I learned that it was much used in Korea afterwards and it appears in a lot of Post WW2 wars.

So an interesting subject in my eyes. And the numbers are impressing!
Are these Matchbox or which manufactor is it?

cheers

Hello Uwe, the Chaffee is an HO scale resin kit by Paul Heiser Models.
Paul Heiser Models are sold by my friend Randy, from Fidelis Models. They
are all limited production and can be hard to find.

Yes, Uwe, Paul Heiser is a personal friend and lives only a few miles from my house. His models are usually quick and easy to put together. I typically use five minute epoxy to put them together.
