Remember my days in the OTC firing 25 pounders - to fire it, one guy pulled the lanyard as hard as he could, then to fire someone else sharply hit it with a downward stroke. It was fun but didnm't happen a lot. Everyone in the RA subunit was worth 3 rounds a year. 25 Pounders in the early 70s!

I fired a US 105mm once in training. It was very cool, about 1977.
