Patrolling


A patrol of this size actually takes up a lot of room.


The patrol has radio communication at both the front...


...and the rear.


Radio takes modern warfare beyond the age of the runner, so that messages of importance can be transmitted instantly to headquarters.


Messages of any unusual circumstance, for instance.


Anything on the ground that needs to be reported.

The ability of military radios to work is the inverse of your need for them. Order socks by radio and it works fine. Order artillery by radio and you get interference.
