Russians in the Forest

This guy looks good creeping in the woods.

Much of Russia is open and much of it is also forests.

The advancing soldier is sort of the new and improved version of the old Airfix advancing Russian.

This is a great and useful set.

Keep your old CDs and DVDs, they come in handy and are free.

These troops are not free, but they are a good value.

 

 

I plan on getting a lot of them.

Pegasus Winter Russians, Set 2

Pegasus Winter Russians Set 2 in 1/72nd scale plastic are great figures.

Their color, size, and style mix well will all their other Russian sets.  Two prone light machine gunners poses, very nice.

I like the officer figure, advancing with an SMG.

Standing riflemen in two different poses too.

Some figures have separate arms or heads to make the poses better.  The figures are flash free, and take regular model glue very well.

Russians and Trees

The tree bases look a bit stark on a table that's gray.

My usual wargame table is covered with green indoor / outdoor carpeting.

So the tree bases look fine then.

Also when the tree bases are grouped together, they look better.

Also, you can sprinkle turf on your wargame table to break up the edges and then just vacuum it up after the game.

Pegasus Russians & Trees

Once the turf is dry, coat it with Woodland Scenics spray on glue.

There will be places that need a touch up.  Spray on some more white glue and add more turf.

The process can be done several times if needed.

I like to gather a few small rocks from the yard and glue them to the base.

I don't glue them to all the bases, but they make a nice change to glue on a few.
