Yellow Submarine, New Version

Two Blue Bird scuba divers with the yellow version.

The well known submersible Alvin is about three times this long in 1/72nd scale.

Submarines like this are very deep diving.

I think it's a very good model.

The propeller is nice and big.

Here is one all painted up in battleship gray.

Formerly Yellow Submarine

The subs were painted with Testors Gray Primer.

The tail of the lower hull needed to be painted too.

The bare metal surface of the lower hull is good for the claw and middle section.

I painted the periscope section gray to match the hull.

I got these at the Dollar Tree store near me.

A great value for only a buck.

Yellow Submarine II

This is the periscope / propeller assembly.

Two upper hulls, prepared for painting.

I wanted to paint the interior white so it would show up better.

I use cheap $1 flat white from Wal-Mart.

Now that the interior is done, the masking has been moved to allow me to paint the exterior.

This is the masking of the underside of the upper hull.

Yellow Submarine

Matchbox makes a deep sea submersible.

It's a cute little yellow submarine.

I am repainting a couple of them.

Use a power drill to take out the single rivet.

Then take the sub apart into the hull, lower hull, glass, and periscope sections.

Then mask them so they can be painted.
