The premise was a former police officer with the backing of a millionaire and a super car went around the county fighting crime.
The super car was called KITT. It was a modified Pontiac Firebird Trans Am called the Knight Industries Two Thousand.I worked in Hollywood at the time and saw the real cars a few times. They had the Hero car, the original one used most of the time, and then several extras that had fancy special accessories that allowed them to perform special stunts or to be used for close ups.
They were the shiniest, blackest cars I have ever seen, they were beautiful.
Movie cars have a full time attendant, sometimes several who spend the whole day wiping off dust, cleaning the tires and the window glass so they always appear perfect on screen.
So when I saw this Hot Wheels version I just had to pick it up, even though I only watched the show a few times. While it was okay, I was never a big fan.
