Japanese Attack with Mortar Support

Japanese heavy mortars to the rear.

Supporting Japanese paratroopers.

Advance under the cover of smoke.

Then lift the smoke as your troops get close.

Hit the enemy with three rounds of high explosive and then shift to their rear to prevent reinforcements.

Nice thing about firing a mortar was that you could see it as the bomb headed towards the target with it's tail wobling in a faintly ridiculous way. Bad thing about firing a mortar (for me) is jamming the skin in the fleshly part of your hand as you let go of the bomb and your hand travelled from the bomb and down the outside of the barrel...

I fired mortars in training once. It was pretty interesting, we cycled through the various positions. Thanks for reading and commenting Rob.
