The ultimate Sherman tank was the M4A3 tank with the HVSS suspension and the 76mm gun and wet ammunition storage.
These served until at least the mid- 1950s in the US Army and maybe even longer in the National Guard or in storage.
The HVSS suspension would hold a heavier tank than the old VVSS version.
The little shelf created by this wide track was used to store spare track links.
This resin cast Heiser Models kit is easy to assemble.
Very little excess resin and a lot of plastic spare detail parts.
This tank had a fold down shelf on the back. The model comes with a folded up version and several of them folded down and loaded with different stuff.
The turret is mostly one piece, with loaders hatch, turret mantelet, and gun separate.
No detail underneath but since I seldom use my tanks upside down this is not a problem.
The tracks have 6 little wheels to glue on, a bit tiresome, but not difficult.
The tracks themselves are nicely detailed with the chevron pattern.
Also available in the cast hull version of the Sherman.
