More MG

These are the leaf templates that I use for a tripod mounted machine gun with a crew of three or more. The wide part of the leaf is just about one inch across. I got this shape from US Army machine gun field manuals.

A single solder with belt fed machine gun. It is an Odemars Bosnian Infantrymen in 1/72nd scale plastic. These guys go well with the Caesar Mountain Troops. This is the way a machine gun would be used in the assault or as a dismounted AFV crew. This figure gets one template. Range out to 1000 meters with a 65% chance to hit at that distance.

HaT WWII German Machine Gunners with Cossack headwear from the HaT Cossack Cavalry. This is a bipod mounted machine gun with loader. They get two leaf templates. Templates can be side by side or end to end. Range out to 1000 meters with a 75% chance to hit at that range.

A tripod mounted machine gun with a crew of three or more from HaT, WWII Germans with Cossack headwear. The tripod allows gunners greater stability and also a telescopic sight. Very good for long range use. They get three leaf templates. Range out to 1250 meters with a 65% chance to hit at that range.

The tripod mounted machine gun with three or more crew can also initiate plunging fire and shoot at targets they can't see directly. I use a marker that is placed in the intended impact zone on one turn and then the fire is resolved normally the next turn. It has to be within range and must not be in a blind spot. The beaten zone must be in an area where the rounds could have landed when fired from the guns position. The gun must remain stationary.
