Red Box Copx

While many of the figures in the Red Box Cops set are civilian, most are in fact, American uniformed police officers from the 1920s, and 1930s.

These are typical big city beat cops of that era. Armed with a revolver and a night stick. Revolvers were typically six shot, in .38 or later .357 magnum.

Police cars often carried pump action shotguns in 12 gauge, often made by Winchester, many just like that are in service with American police today. These figures are vague enough that they could work for pretty much the entire 20th Century up to now. The absence of radios and more equipment on the duty belt being the major difference since about 1980.

These long coats can be either cloth or leather, and typically would be dark blue or black. Some agencies wear tan or dark brown, or even two tone uniforms with tan tops and green trousers.

Many rural areas are serviced by a county sheriff and one or more deputy sheriff officers. They do not always wear the same uniform as city police and sometimes wear little more than a badge to indicate their office. Often their population is so small that everyone knows who they are on site without a uniform. The sheriff is usually an elected official, the police chief is typically appointed by the city mayor or a civil service position.

Those urban officers are perfect examples of NYC and PHILLY PD...
(those coats and hats look so familiar)

Nicely done.
