During the Interwar Period between the First and Second World Wars, the US Army troops often wore this flat hat on duty.
I wanted to create a small unit of these men so I have been doing some head swaps.
Some of you will no doubt recognize the blue figure as being from the Airfix American Civil War Cavalry set.
The head is from the Airfix World War One British Infantry.
Cut the heads off and insert a piece of #8 guitar string into the body.
Put a drop of gap filling super glue on the wire and press the British head onto the Civil War body.
Put a dab of E6000 glue on the saddle and press the rider down into place.
The horses are from Eagle Games, they sell whole boxes of one piece horses in black, brown, or gray.

good morning mr. Mike, I use those Eagle games horses too. I bought about 300 of them for "remounts". They may not be quite historically accurate for Napoleonics but I'm not in competition or doing Museum work so they're good enough for me. They are also cheap so you can get a lot of them for just a few dollars.The horses that came with the Call to Arms Cuirassiers and Carabiniers were just pathetic. Hobby Lobby was selling IMEX ACW cavalry with the 40% off weekly newspaper coupon I bought another about another three hundred of those. The IMEX make a good heavy Cavalry horse. Have a good day!
Yes, Gary, the worst thing about Airfix cavalry was the separate bases. Hours of aggravation trying to stand up the horses. I found the Eagle Games horses on sale at a local hobby shop and scooped up a large herd myself.
