Quonset hut
My good buddy Raymond Lorts sent me some photos of the Roco Quonset Hut model that he has painted in a camouflage pattern. These are great styrene plastic kits that go together quickly and easily. This particular one has a roll up door at one end for a garage or repair bay, but they also make an office or barracks type too.
Quonset huts were first used by the US Navy in WWII but are in use all over the world today by not only the US Navy but the USMC, US Army, and many foreign nations and civilians too. These were pre-fabricated buildings and they came in several sizes and many configurations. Often they were modified for other uses and even had conventional additions made to them.
Buildings of this type can be found near the front lines and back in safe areas, where ever temporary or at least quickly constructed buildings are needed. Perhaps the most famous Quonset huts were the ones seen in the Gomer Pyle, USMC TV series. That show used them as barracks and offices. Two very typical uses for these buildings. So if your army is looking for a place to bed down for the night, they could do worse than this building.
