USA Tanks
In WWI the United States had many civilian companies devise tanks for use by the soldiers.
The Holt Company was one of them and the Caterpillar Company and many others.
Some like this one were just mock ups and others were actually put into production.
This one was used all over California for recruiting, training and propaganda.
Some of them were gasoline powered or even steam powered. Over 20 different designs were put forward. I think some model company should make models of all these in Minitank size so we can play alternate history or science fiction games with them.

Right on! I could use them for my imagine-nation armies. would be nice. cool post.
Thanks Tsold. It's no more trouble to design a model that's based on a real vehicle than it is to make one up. These never saw combat and most were one of a kind. They would work for WWI, War Hammer, Sci Fi, WWWII, Pulp, almost anything!

Amazing photos mate, the second last pic is very strange, it looks like a sub or ship, I guess they were still thinking of land ships
Shintokamikaze, no one knew what a tank was supposed to look like so no one was restrained by preconceived notions about them. So we got some weird and wonderful vehicle designs.
