More Training
These First World War rail guns used aircraft to observe target. The front line troops placed panels on the ground to show where they were located. Then the plane would fly over the target and fly back and drop a canister with target information for the gun. The rail guns had trains to provide bunks, cooking, ammunition, and fire control centers for them.
I have taken some European style freight cars and put American style trucks on the bottom. The ammunition boxcars were close to the guns so they could keep up a steady fire.
This gondola car is reinforced so that the troops can use it to defend the gun from close attack. These guns were naturally tied to the rails and so it is not too hard for the enemy to find where they were located. The second box car has sandbags on the roof for additional protection.
This has been one of those conversions that I really like because it was easy to do, quick to build, and provided me with a unique item. These guns were able to fire with great accuracy to supply depots, and troop concentrations ten or fifteen miles behind the lines. That can really tangle up a defense or attack preparations.
