Bridge That Gap
Today is another offering from the great folks at HaT. This time it is their soon to be released pontoon bridge. The bridge set will have three pontoons like the one pictured above. They can be glued together to make bridges of any length. The pontoons are good and they stick out enough to allow engineers to stand in the ends of the boats. The pontoons will also work alone as assault boats, or in little groups as pontoon rafts.
This shot shows one pontoon section with a group of the First World War French Infantry (Early) from HaT. The French are new, and the pontoon bridge has not yet been released. Look for it in the third quarter this year. This is a pre-production version, hence the purple color. HaT like all plastic figure companies, does test shots of the new kits to test the mold and to test the fit and finish of the final product. Typically they still have to design a box and instructions when applicable.
While this pontoon bridge is intended to be used for French Napoleonics and comes with a trailer to carry it, there are many more uses. My intention is to use them for American Civil War, both sides, WWI US Army and German Army, and WWII German Army, and perhaps Soviet and Japanese too. The main difference would be changing the wagon around a bit. Different wheels, perhaps even modernizing it so it it has rubber tires and can be towed by trucks or halftracks.
