All is Right With the World

Queen Victoria sits on her throne and the sun never set on the British Empire.

But this robot is something new under the sun.

He comes from a planet that orbits another star.

Now he is here to challenge the British Empire.

The people run in terror.
 

Iron Giants

When Wal-Mart reduced the price of their Iron Giant robot toy, I had to get more.

My plan is to use them as space invaders, or by making a clear sticker and sticking it on their chest....

With a Nazi symbol or a Communist hammer and sickle...

They can serve as Earth based enemies.

I had two of them walking around in the basement and the dog was not sure about them.

So he had to check them out again.

He applies his seal of approval and accepts them into his pack, but with a lower rank than himself.

The Giants smile quietly to themselves at the honor.
 

Volkssturm vs Giant Beetle

 

I opened the window and found a dead beetle in the window frame.

It was huge and had big mandibles.

I had just finished trimming the new Mars Volkssturm figures off the sprue.

So naturally, I saw this as an opportunity to put them into combat right away.

The Zugführer closes with his MP-40, leading by example.

The armor of the bug was impressive, but under the weight of the Lewis gun and Panzerfaust he fell in battle.

Robots

The Martians have assembled five giant robots.

Their firepower is immense.

Here the final fueling is performed.

Almost done.

This device is the communications amplifier for the Supreme Martian Intelligence.  It broadcasts his commands to each of his robots.
 

The Complex

Fueling continues of the giant robots.

Their robot control panel.

Some of the shape shifters even make themselves into vehicles.  That explains their lack of ground transportation.

This one is a radio antenna and transmits and receives signals on any frequency.

Supreme Martian Intelligence

The Martians leader is a disembodied head and tentacles inside a glass container.

The Supreme Martian Intelligence.

From this pedestal he controls the whole planets population.

Greedy for power he wants to control the Earth too.

 We'll see about that.

Martians Force Fields

As they prepared to transport the robots to Earth, they packaged them in large shipping frames.

The ground troops practiced they maneuvers, some of them had personal force field generators.

They generally when to the officers, they provided good protection against small arms.  And they could still fire out at us.  It took us a while to figure out how to deal with them.

Some of the shapes they shape shifted into were a mystery.

We have no idea what this thing is supposed to do!
 

Fuel for Robots

The Martians used a mixture of three fuels for their robots.

Two were very benign chemicals, one was mostly water.

But the Green Stuff as we called it would burn a hole in almost anything.

It was mixed with the other two and that cut down on this burning properties.

The fuels were stored in the thick parts of the legs and the arms of the robots.

They had a very limited supply so it limited the number of robots they could deploy.
 

Martian Shape Shifters

The Martians has a number of giant robots.

They could take a medication that would allow them to shape shift into any body configuration they wanted.

They could become living radios, or even tiny helicopters.

They found it helpful, but the drawback was once they achieved a new shape they had to retain it for a long period of time, perhaps months, so choose wisely!

This one had an extra strong skin so it would not be burned by the acid fuels they used.
