A Sad Duty

One of the other guards explains the crime scene to the FBI Agent. The unfired carbine of the dead guard still lays on the grass where it fell. No detail it too small to leave out in and investigation of this magnitude.

Army Medics carry the body of the dead G.I. off to the ambulance. An Army Doctor takes a quick look at the wound. It is very large and obviously, very deep.
When the initial call came in to headquarters they were unsure if the guard was dead or alive, so they dispatched plenty of help in case he was still alive. Two doctors, two medics and a nurse responded but when they arrived it was obvious the victim was deceased.

Looking very small and alone in the harsh desert light the body of the slain soldier lays on the stretcher in the back of the Army truck. Somehow in death people look smaller.

A Military Police Officer escorts the ambulance truck back to the main base complex. A sad duty but a necessary one. Who could have done this?
