Karl-Gerat German Mortar
In World War Two the Germans planned to swoop around the Maginot Line by going through neutral Holland and Belgium.
Still, they wanted to have options and so they looked at ways to breech the Maginot Line.
The 600mm mortar was one way to defeat the French defenses.
The mortar was transported on special rail cars for long range travel.
For intermediate travel distances they were carried on super heavy trailers.
But for short range and tactical movement they were able to drive on their own tracks.
They made six of these that were used in combat and one additional experimental one.

Mike:
I was hoping to say...there's something you don[t see every day on the WW2 battlefield.
Very nice reproduction.
Carry on.
Hi G, I think a lot of my battlefields have things you don't see everyday.
