Pentomic Army

These vehicles are from a company called Midge Toy.  A midge is a tiny little flying bug.

I have stripped the paint off wiht Simple Green.

I am going to use them as heavy recon cars for my 1950's Pentomic Army.

I am not exactly sure what they are supposed to be but they are similar to the Mighty Mite, a Jeep type vehicle used by the Army in the Cold War.

Looks good with 1/72nd scale figures.  They models are probably 40 years old.  They came in army green.  I plan to repaint them soon.

Book Review

Wine & War is about the French wine industry during World War Two.  Some of them fought the Germans.  Some of them collaborated with the Germans.

Wine was an important industry in France. It was important for morale, and the economy.

This book is well written and is an excellent study of live in France under the Germans.  Highly recommended.  It is full of wargame scenarios.  Germans searching for wine, resistance fighters, and weapons gives plenty of wargame opportunities.

Christmas Town

Taking photos from a high angle can minimize the importance of the background.

Make sure you have plenty of light.  These are taken outdoors, in the shade, so the shadows are minimal.

A low enough view to give some depth, but close up enough to show detail.

A farther field of view to show some real background; the grass looks very natural.

The inclusion of figures gives greater scale to the scene.

Christmas Town

Christmas buildings with WWII era German trucks.  Watch your background when taking pictures, see that Arrowhead water bottle in the distance?

Use a background that blends in better, this background is bright but indistinct.

Center the subject and get good an low for a view the model troops get of the scene.

Keep yourself out of the photos, this one shows my big blue jeans covered leg.

This view simulates looking out the second story window to watch the trucks roll by.
