Soviet Artillery Crew Orion

For years I have been buying Soviet WWII artillery.

Now, Orion makes WWII Soviet Artillery crews!

I will need a bunch of these to staff my guns.

There are four poses, in three different uniforms.

I try to staff my guns with the correct number of crewmen.

For that I include the transport staff.

And some of the staff handling ammo.

And manning the fire direction center.

Orion sometimes includes a resin pose in the set.

In this case the pose is identical to one of the plastic figures.  Shown together they look like a dance troops.

Anti-Tank Guns

The Soviet Union used a lot of towed anti-tank guns.

They were much cheaper than tanks and faster to produce.

They were excellent in defense because the crews could not expect to get away and so had to fight.

These white metal castings are 100mm WWII anti-tank guns.

I mount them on a 1mm thick sheet of styrene.

It helps keep the trails from being broken off in rough wargame handling.

A little flocking and paint and they look okay.

WWII German Christian Cossack Troops

Logistical support by family members.

Traditional and German transport wagons.

Anti-tank guns.

Horse teams for AT guns.

Command group, Orthodox bishop, radio operator, dog, Cossack and German commanders.

Mascots, chaplains, and commanders presence all contribute a morale bonus in my wargame rules.
