Speed Racing

This rather goofy vehicle is from the Cars series.

It is based on real vehicles, however.  I got it as part of my auto racing project and I have a few different speed record type vehicles.

The Bonneville Salt Flats is a place where for over 100 years land vehicles were tested for their speed.

Land speed records have been set there by a number of different kind of vehicles.

Typically, they are long, narrow vehicles, often with various fins, not unlike this model.

This vehicle has a parachute at the back to slow the vehicle at the end of the run.

From this view, without the googlie eyes the model looks much better.

I may do something with the eyes, but I have not decided yet.

The underside is interesting but not authentic.

The top is pretty good and it has an interesting shape.
