Tiger Gas

Another one of my recent resin jobs.

A Tiger tank used to train Tiger tank drivers. The Tiger tank was very wide and very heavy. It was difficult to drive and required drivers use a lot of skill to keep from throwing a tread or killing the transmission.

The Germans set it up to run on wood gas so they did not have to waste oil for training and could save that for actual combat operations.

Some military drivers were trained by members of the NSKK, the National Socialist Motor Corps. It was a Nazi organization that encouraged motor vehicles. Sometimes you see photos of armored vehicles with NSKK on the mudguards.

The training tanks did not have turrets. The turrets were mounted on concrete bases and used to practice gunnery on the tank range.
