Victory in Machine War

The HK got off one more shot before it too was hit, by a boy firing a missile launcher and an automatic cannon.

The HK reeled back as if it was a man punched in the face.

The Hunter Killer itself got killed and it flipped over on it's back and died.

The first HK finally was able to turn away and limp back to it's base.

Four bodies recovered out of the six dead. Seven wounded, all would survive. Eighteen left alive after defending their homes.

The commander praises his people for the battle they won today. They won the battle, but they no longer have enough manpower or ammo or weapons to hold out again. In two days they will withdraw to a new set of ruins, the next town down the highway. In three days the Hunter Killers will be back to take over in peace what they could not get in war.

Good Hit

The remote cannons are a battery of four guns. They only require the actions of the loader and the fire direction vehicle to launch an attack. Sitting in the middle of the street this gun waits for the HK to come close enough to insure a good hit.

The commander directs the battle from the up front - front. He stands in the rubble of the second story of a building. His wife nearby keeps alert for close up attacks.

The second HK moves in, it's nose gun blasting away, troops hunkering down behind cover. The fire direction vehicle just waiting for the right moment.

The first HK is not at the rear, trying to limp back to base, flying at an odd angle. The mechanical man is draped over the bunker. The second HK is still plenty deadly and the humans could still lose this fight.

Destroyed guns, men, mechanical man and debris litter the scene as the second HK fires.

Machine War

While the destroyed tank did not burn, everyone knew that no one could survive the terrible explosion caused by the attack of the second HK.

While hardly much more than a boy, John steadied his rocket launcher, waiting for a chance to defend the ruins of his home.

The Mechanical Man charged up to the ruins, seemingly enraged over the damage done to the HK. The men and women firing as fast as they could shoot and reload. Hoping a lucky shot would hit a vital part. John stood in the ruins of his second floor bedroom and aimed rocket launcher.

John watched as the Mechanical Man lifted a neighbor lady and slammed her to the ground. And fired.

The rocket slammed into the Mechanical Man and exploded. He staggered to his left and fell over a bunker, as dead in appearance as he was in fact.

Machine War

The human shaped mechanical monster lumbers forward towards the humans.

The missile man and his observer fall back after launching their very effective missile. Their last round gone, they retreat to the protection of a large crater.

Despite his electromechanical origins, the men later said it was as if the mechanical man had been enraged by the hit on the Hunter Killer. He boldly charged forward, small arms rounds pinging off his arms, and body.

The wounded Hunter Killer shuddered and began to fall back as his wingman moved into position to pass him.

The second Hunter Killer, wanting to preserve his missiles for better targets, opens up on the men below with his dual machine cannons.

More Machine War

The cannon got off a shot, but so did the Hunter Killer. The HK was hit too. The unarmored gun was destroyed and the one man crew was killed too.

The missile man carefully held his fire. His spotter cautioning him to wait, wait, wait for it.

The HK is almost directly overhead, time to fire! Fire! FIRE!

The first HK took a direct hit from the cannon and the missile man, both on the left thruster jet. The back up systems allows the HK to stay aloft, but it is out of the fight.

The First HK Closes

The fire control vehicle has a lock on the first Hunter Killer.

The people are very low on supplies and can't hold out much longer. This will probably be the last attack they can repel.

The loader keeps the cannon supplied with shells but the aiming, pointing and targeting are done by the fire control vehicle.

The Hunter Killer sees the cannon aiming at it. Who will fire first?

A hand held rocket launcher is readied to use against the first Hunter Killer. It has to be almost on top of him before he has a chance to penetrate the armor of the HK.

These are Caesar Miniatures and Matchbox vehicles, weapons and more troops.

Machine War

The few remaining residents of the town set up in the rubble and the ground up terrain around the town.

Everyone left in town was a soldier, no matter what their occupation before the Machine War.

The parabolic antenna tracks the approach of the Hunter Killer machines. The data will be linked in to the four remote cannons in an effort to bring down these flying monsters.

The two man tank is no match for the Hunter Killer machines, but is lethal when used against a Robot Machine. Remote cannon in the background.

The only new construction since the start of the Machine War has been the installation of a few bunkers. The blast doors close to protect the weapons and men inside from bomb splinters.
