Missiles

Missile in launch configuration.

Visiting Dollar Tree I picked up a bag of whistles in the shape of jets.

I plan to use them as cruise missiles.

Here is one of them, I primer painted it but I think after a little work and real paint and decals it may be okay!

Here is a family of rockets for the transporter.

Missiles

These cheapo rockets and launcher transporters are sold on Amazon and eBay.  They cost less than a dollar each but you gotta buy a dozen at a time.

If you pull them apart, and put them back together, you can make a longer missile.

Makes a great long range missile, two stages!

The launcher works well to put the missile into firing position.

If you combine some missile you end up with extra launchers.  This rocket looks pretty good on the trailer.

Two Stage Missile

Once you take the missile apart you can take a second missile..

And attach the extra body to it to create a massive two stage rocket!

Works for both 1/72nd scale and 60mm.

It even fits on the TEL.

I think it makes a great anti-missile missile.

Or even a good long range missile.

And that warhead makes a nice piece too, so nothing is wasted.

Not bad, and the best part is Amazon sells them for $10 a dozen!

Missile and TEL

Years ago I got a couple of these rockets but could not find them again.

Came with a nice transporter, erector, launcher.

It was generic enough to work as a a big missile for 1/72nd scale.

And small enough to work as a small rocket for 60mm.

They also came apart.

So you could take off the nose cone and the tail.

Then put them together to make a nice warhead.

Dinosaur Bones

Even a single tale bone is as large as a man's body.

The cargo carrier is dwarfed by this massive beast's remains.

It's a miracle of science.

It must be preserved.

The launch will have to be rescheduled.

Delay Launch

Send some men out to check on it.

It's a skeleton alright.

And it's huge!

What kind of an animal would die out here in the Arctic and leave a skeleton of these dimensions?

The scientists inspect it closer.

Something in the Snow

The missiles are prepared for firing.

The countdown begins...

Hold the launch!

There's something out there in the snow!

It's a skeleton, revealed when the light snow blew away!

It Is Cold

It takes a lot of men and equipment to mount an expedition of this magnatude.

All supplies have to be brought to the scene, with plenty of spares.

You can't just run to the store and pick up a roll of tape or a box of breakfast cereal.

And men and machines have to function in extreme cold.

Some days you have a high temperature of minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

At those temperatures metal can become brittle and even motor oil can freeze.

Snow Training

The troops have to be ready to repel an enemy attack.

The mission of launching missiles is for training...

But up here an attack could come without warning.

So the troops need to be ready.

Paratroopers, cargo planes landing on the snow, even a submarine might pop up with troops onboard.

All sorts of sensors are turned on and ready to detect any hostile element.
