Kiss Kiss Club is Finished

Restrooms heavily modified from Dollar Tree building, and so is the ticket booth and the bar.  The bandstand is scratch built, the figures are all conversions from cheap styrene figures from Amazon, and a few random figures from other sources.  The firearms are bits of plastic added to civilian figures to simulate guns.  The base is PVA plastic sheeting 1/4 inch thick, very rigid, very expensive.  I got it used, for free, about 25 years ago in a large quantity and I am still using it up.  Trees are swizzle sticks from Dollar Tree.  Chairs are wire and plastic scratch builds.  Dance floor is sheet plastic with contact paper border.  Posters were digitally created by my daughter.  Billboards from Target stores.  Concrete color bases are removable or reposition-able for different scenarios, as are all the buildings and trees.  So the whole thing is very modular.  The whole base is 20 x 16 inches.  I worked on it off and on for a couple years.
 

Finishing up the Kiss Kiss Club

Nearing the end of the Kiss Kiss Club project.  The base gets painted with a sand type texture paint.  So I covered the holes for the palm trees.

I am using this Krylon Stone Coarse Texture Paint.

Largo's henchmen are coming together. Henchmen get a small triangle base in my games.

These are generic plastic civilian figures.

Using the edge of an X-Acto knife I scrapped off the detail from the clothing to make tee shirts.

And using a small bit of plastic rod each henchmen got a gun barrel protruding from the top side of his hand.

They don't show up well in the photo but they are supposed to be subtle.

Toothpicks and Palm Pics

Dollar Tree cocktail stirrers.

They were about $1.25 per pack of ten, so 13 cents each.

Day glo green and flat, styrene plastic.

My plan for the Kiss Kiss Club was to make slots in the base and push these into them.  Then they can be removed so I could re-arrange the set up as needed.

Decent detail on the trunk and okay on the fronds.

Since these are decorative palms I figure they could look the same in a nightclub setting.  Painted up they look okay I think.  Unpainted they may end up decorating some casinos, hotels or villain lairs.

I like using these kinds of picks for model work.  Bamboo shreds and causes splinters.

The plastic end makes them easy to find on a crowded table.

Longer than most toothpicks they are more versatile.

Testing the Kiss Kiss Club

The final lay out for the Kiss Kiss Club.

I still have to print and paste posters, glue the band name onto plastic so it will be legible, and put pins in the fences so they stay put.

I also need to make dancing partners for the dance floor.  Henchmen and Moll for Largo to chase Mr. Bond with.

And the final painting of the ground cover.  But I am getting close.  The ground cover paint takes a full day to dry between coats and it will take three, probably.  I have not even started on the dancers, henchmen, moll, or even Mr. Bond.
 

Bits and Pieces

Johnny Lightening and Hot Wheels from my Horror Collection.  Halloween is approaching so it is time to start looking for horror stuff.  I did find a few mummy figures at Dollar General, small 54mm size.

My Roco upgrade project has picked up steam as the Kiss Kiss Club project has been winding down.  Here I am painting wheels, windshields, and tires and seats and tarps on some trucks.  The Roco 37mm anti-tank gun is getting put back together and about 2/3rds are getting mounted on bases.

Kiss Kiss Club with all the major parts put together.  The base will be replaced with a slightly larger one, there will be more palm trees and foliage, and maybe a few dancing people.

Hot coals ready for the fire walking.  Actually a pile of sand.  I placed a washer over a bit of styrene plastic and poured sand into the hole.  Then dropped very liquid super glue onto the sand as I removed the washer.  Then I painted the sand using red, orange, and yellow transparent colors by Tamiya.
 

Kiss Kiss Bar

I got this little building from Dollar Tree a couple years ago.

The poster was done by my daughter, a professional artist.

I used a marker pen to make this sign.

Here are some bar seats, lego pins cut off the bricks and with a little bit of plastic in between.

Much of the interior of the bar is a picture printed out and glued inside.
