The War of the Worlds

Giant cylinders fell all over the world.

Once the first one opened Halloween night, 1938, they were revealed to be carrying war machines from the planet Mars.

While the troops had been unable to stop them right away, eventually forces were deployed in strength.

They were vulnerable to heavy artillery, if it could be brought to bear in time, the war machines were fast and hard to hit.

This time it looks like the US Army has brought enough guns to one place in order to prevail over the war machines.  Only one of the original three has made it this far and one more volley and he should be blown halfway back to Mars!

The Legend of Odo Island

They were calling the giant lizard, Godzilla, King of the Monsters.

It was named by some Japanese fishermen fishing off the coast of Washington state, they were the first to see it, swimming in the ocean towards land.  No one knows where it came from.

It certainly is the largest creature ever seen on land.

The monster had gone inland a bit but now was approaching the city.

The Army brought their latest weapons to the scene in an effort to stop it.

Bugs, Not the Bunny

No one seemed to know where the giant bugs came from.

Some thought they were from outer space, maybe the Moon, or Mars.

Others thought they were newly evolved, or perhaps thawed out in the Arctic and then came south.

Others said they were demons and could not be killed.  Certainly the few times civilians and local forces tried to defend against them the result was annihilation, of the humans.

But in 1938 the US Army has new weapons of unprecedented power and now they are able to bring these massive guns into position to finally deal a death blow to these oversize roaches!

Soviet Union Invades America

No one expected Stalin to invade the USA in 1938.

But here were BT7 fast tanks racing across northern Alaska in the summer.

Their scientists created a temporary ice based pontoon bridge between the continents.

And they raced thousands of tanks and hundreds of thousands of troops across before the Americans could even realize what happened.

It took six months to re-deploy American Regular and National Guard troops to the north and by that time the Russians were nearly to Canada.  Here American Army troops and artillery defend against a Communist Vanguard of BT7 fast tanks.
