DEW Line Quanset Huts in the Snow

The DEW Line the Distant Early Warning was a radar fence between the USA and Canada working together to protect against incursion of aircraft or missiles from the Soviet Union.

We got about two inches of snow the other day, so when I realized it snowed, I put a few buildings outside to get a little snow cover.

Months ago I was unpacking some of my collection and I noticed there was a Bellona Battlefields Quonset Hut that was crushed.

I had just unpacked my giant Mantis figure and BINGO! I knew I had to do a Deadly Mantis set up.

The Mantis attacks the base looking for food in the Arctic wastes.

Here he crashes the roof of one of the buildings.

The troops here in northern Alaska run into the snow and fire at the monster.

The bullets don't seem to have any effect on the monster.

Tiger Tank Company, Very Late War

Tiger battalion with Whirlbelwind AA guns on Panzer IV chassis.

VK 4500 and two swimmwagen as unit headquarters.

Unit HQ and AA section.

First, second, and third platoons, each with four tanks.

First two platoons have Tiger I.

Some Tiger I actually served as long as a couple years in German wartime service.

 

Old Roco, New Roco, Zylmex with Roco tracks, and Corgi Tiger I tanks.

Third tank platoon has three Tiger II and one Maus.

Late War Tiger Tank Company

A late war Tiger Tank company with a mixture of vehicles.  Here a Tiger I.

The typical German heavy tank platoon was four tanks.

Tiger II and Tiger I were considered interchangeable.

Three platoons of four tanks each for a total of 12 tanks and two headquarters vehicles makes a company of 14 heavy tanks.

Here we can see some 20mm quad anti-aircraft vehicles attached from battalion.
