Eagles

Another of the game pieces that might be WHW items.

It's a great eagle, it certainly looks like it is from the 1930s, and could be either German or even American in style.

I think it's way cool, myself.

The black one looks like it should be the GI Joe Maltese Falcon.

Same markings as before.

Looks almost like chess pieces.

An officer points towards the enemy as the last of the Volkssturm marches off to defend the crumbling Reich.

More of the Kaisers Troops and Tanks

You can see a German machine gun team in the background.

Over the years I picked up a small number of metal German WWI troops.

From just about every 20mm figure maker that made WWI Germans.

But they never seemed to have stayed in business very long or the postage was expensive, since they are metal.

But the bulk of my WWI German army is Airfix.

Most have been converted to late war with the addition of the helmet.

And since my WWI army is so small, I actually painted a few of them.

Whippet Tank

World War One camouflage was often very bright colors.

This A7V I think is from It Figures.  It's a big block of resin.

The Germans made use of a lot of captured tanks.

This is a British Whippet tank, captured, repainted and put into German service.

The British made 200 of them and they could go 8 miles per hour.

If you don't think that's fast try and run eight miles per hour.

Germans were very careful to repaint the captured tanks so they did not get attacked by their own men.

  

I have only one captured Whippet in my collection.

A7V and Airfix Troops

Airfix WWI German with a new helmet.

I cut the spike off the helmet of these Airfix figures.  Then I glued the separate helmet from the Atlantic WWII Afrika Korps figures to them over the existing helmet.

The Atlantic helmets are large and the WWI helmet was larger than the WWII version so it looks pretty good on this guys I think.

The figure with the flag is the man striking with the butt of his rifle, the rifle was cut away and a piece of ware inserted into his hands.  Then I painted a piece of tissue paper and glued it onto the flagpole.  The tissue paper is folded over the wire.  I superglue it so the paper is rigid.  The iron cross is an airplane decal.

I used airplane decals for the tanks.

The Germans did not seem to have very standard markings for tanks in WWI.

It is covered with machine guns.
