While driving across America we visited many restaurants, parks, and motels.

This one had a 1950's retro theme going on.

I suspect it was built in the 1950's and they just kept the decor.

Across the street they had a nice locomotive in the part.

It was huge, those driving wheels are six feet across.

House Moving

The Christmas buildings are normally stored in a small underbed storage box.

They sit on a piece of corduroy cloth and don't slide around.

However, when moving, stronger measures are required.

So each building has to be removed from it's box...

and individually wrapped up.

This will protect them from each other as they jostle along in the moving truck.

The Story

When we arrived in Scottsville there were storage sheds but no apartments.  So we ended up staying in a succession of motels until we could find an apartment.  The apartment we got was a former school building that was surplus when they built a new school.  Our apartment is brand new and we are the first people to live in it.

In the meantime we are still working on getting a house.  We are in consultation with a real estate agent a builder.  Our first choice is to buy land and have a house built for us.  We designed a home to meet our unique needs and now we are working on the pricing.

The hope is that we will be in our new home in less than a year, perhaps as soon as six months.  Much of it depends on the weather and the nature of the construction.  It's winter now but there is no snow, but it has been cold.  Apparently you can't pour a concrete foundation in very cold weather.

The Story

Eventually we were able to repack the majority of the hobby boxes.

After a couple days work we were able to get most of the underbed storage boxes and plastic bankers boxes into some semblance of order.

Another day of working and this is what we had.  Later, we got two more rows into this shed, that's 216 underbed storage boxes.  We had more in another shed for a total of over 300.  Note each one is labelled, weighted, and the lighter ones are on top of the heavier ones.  The only exception is a few on the very top have broken lids and so can't be stacked for now.
