Skipjack

From the Revell website comes the news that they are releasing a US Navy Skipjack class submarine, in 1/72nd scale!  This Cold War submarine was a work horse for many years.  Several other classes were pretty similar.  This kit will be three feet long!  I will almost certainly get at least one.

US Navy Skipjack Class Submarine Over a long period of time the “Skipjack Class” was one of the fastest and most manoeuvrable nuclear powered “Hunter” submarines within the U.S. Navy. Launched in 1958 the Skipjack saw nearly 20 years of active service and in terms of performance was similar to the Soviet Victor Class. The rounded, slim design and powerful propulsion unit enabled it to reach a speed of 30 knots submerged. A total of six submarines of this class were built. All Done

The blue mat is for me to kneel down on.  This game was set up on a concrete pad in my backyard and the mat is helpful.

Some of these figures are Star Wars Action Fleet.  They give a good mixture of aliens, women and civilians.  There are a few Star Trek figures too.

These three are from Mighty Maxx a cartoon my daughter used to watch. 

This little robot is from some long lost toy.  Looks pretty good for a civilian robot, IMHO.

I don't know what these guys are supposed to be, but they make good aliens.  Thanks for reading.

The End

The previous battle starred the following participants.  These mantis models were from a Toob full of insects.

These little silver guys are armored knights.  The company designed them to be able to stand up or sit on a horse in the same pose.  I use them as androids, because they are not very human looking.

The armored dune buggies are from the new Halo Micro Ops, from Target stores.  They claim to be 15mm but look more 1/72nd scale to me.

The little Christmas buildings were from Dollar Tree.  The insects were from various bags of bugs.  The Starship Troopers type figures were Action Fleet, as were many of the other figures.

The raiders were some figures a friend of mine sent me in the mail. 

Gunned Down

Two VTOL aircraft fire at the Army Ants as they try and retreat.

A third VTOL cuts off their retreat and finishes the job the others started.

Army Ants, Raiders bodies choke the streets.

Wounded Troopers in the central square.

VTOL aircraft fly over the city, making sure all the bugs and raiders are gone.

Green Army Ants, once a terror, are no longer a threat.

The few remaining Raiders are gunned down.
