Aurora and Airfix Landing Craft

Airfix made an LCM in soft plastic and an Aurora Anzio Beach landing craft.
The Anzio Beach landing craft is styrene plastic and came as a model kit in the old Aurora kit called Anzio Beach.
This one is complete except for the terrible machine gun that is supposed to be on the curved shield on the starboard side rear, in front of the cabin.
Typical examples today are missing the two antennas as they break off easily.
Other than that it's a very sturdy model with thick plastic.
It fit together well and is large enough to hold most medium size Roco vehicles.
This one is so old the glue is turning yellow.
The Airfix kit is much larger and came fully assembled with only 4 pieces in soft plastic.

I once owned an Aurora Anzio set. A moment ago, just for curiosity's sake, I checked out Anzio on Ebay. It was no surprise to discover that it is now a collector's item.

The Aurora Rat Patrol and Anzio Beachhead sets are fantastic introductions of both model building and miniature wargaming. It's too bad that they were probably never recast since the original run. I managed to get one of each as a kid and still have most of the parts. I also picked up some of the bits when i purchased used collections. Still it had everything two sides, terrain, figures, vehicles, and accessories. Reminiscent of the old Marx and MPC toy soldier sets in the larger scaled.
Thanks for commenting.
Now if I can prove I am not a robot I will post this.

Matchbox did a playset called 'Beachhead' too. It had some 1/76 figures, generic type diecast military vehicles, two landing craft and probably most importantly, some neat looking scaled polystyrene bomb damaged buildings.
