Cutting Mat

My cutting mats were looking very ratty.

So it was time to get some new ones.

On a recent trip to Hobby Lobby I picked up two of these.

Apparently I should not chew on them.

These were pretty inexpensive and are quite thick.
 

Wagon Construction

Here is a simple wagon.  A useful box wagon good for the US from the AWI to even modern times.  Made of interlocking bricks, lego types, wheels from Imex Conestoga Wagons set, wire mesh for the traces, Eagle Games horse, Evergreen Scale Models shapes and sheet plastics, and a generic civilian 1/75th scale figure.

I used these glues to construct the wagon and a tube of Goo rubber contact cement to hold the wagon and horse to the base.

The base is black plastic by Evergreen, that I have sanded the top to give it some texture and make it better to glue onto.

Similar interlocking brick type vehicles under construction.

I am making a number of wagons and horseless carriages for several project.  Dollar Tree and Constructive Playthings have had the bricks for sale for a while now and I spent a little time gathering them up.
 

Flying Car

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Side view.  This is a really well done model car and has lots of cool details.

Apart from the wings, the steering wheel is well done, as is the rest of the interior.

Lots of nice painted details like on the hood.

The rear of the movie car was supposed to have been made from a boat and this certainly shows a boat like hull.

There were six of these cars built for the movie in 1966.

Bottom side.  There are a number of these cars still in existence, many of them replica cars that are very close to the original in look.  All the original types vary slightly one to the other.

It might make a great car for James Bond to drive in the first half of the 20th Century.
 

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Ian Fleming wrote the James Bond books and also the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang book.

While the much large size Corgi Chitty Chitty Bang Bang models are more common they also did one in 1/64th scale like most Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars.

The package has this little nose on the bubble to enable the package to stand upright.  A nice little addition for collectors.

The side wings fold inward and the front and rear wings are removable so the car can be used without them as a regular car.
