Airfix Died

One set of Airfix Cowboys, and for sets of Wagon Train and at least two sets of High Chaparral.
Nearly all gone brittle.
They have always been stored in my home, most were purchased new.
I keep them in food storage containers, plastic boxes, and inside a drawer.  So dark and cool.
All the sets were essentially a total loss.

 The items that were not broken crumbled at the touch.

    Still good for a host town and damaged wagons on the trail. Unfortunate though

    I must speak with two words but most of the time my Airfix figures of my childhood are still in good shape. Broken figures I find most of the time in purchases I've done second hand.
    But it is sad to see what happend with these figures. I feel sorry for you Mike.

    It's a shame. And Airfix were supposed to be "higher end" than the old Helen of Toy/Giant from Hong Kong soldiers; yet all of them (those that I didn't lose, run over with a lawnmower, got sucked up by the vacuum, or chewed by the dog) from the mid 1960s are still alive and well; yet every airfix soldier from the late 60s to early 70s is long gone, crumpled to a pile of dust.

    Thank you Peter. My experience is mixed. Some have crumbled and some have not. More scary is some Esci figures have started to go, mostly Zulus and WWII Germans.

    Banzi55 yes, I was surprised I would have bet the Giant figures would have gone brittle long before Airfix but I never saw a brittle Giant figure.
