I got a Twin HE-111 to tow my Gigant glider. These gliders were so huge that they needed to take to medium bombers and stick them together to make a very large plane, they added an extra engine too.

ReplyDeleteI read about those Heinkels in my planes of the 3rd reich book, and the main problem with them was they barely got the Gigant off the ground.

The LUftwaffe also tried mulitple aircraft (think they were Ju88s), and THAT problem was trying to "sync" the planes to they pulled at the SAME rate of speed...
Germany was a real mix of ideas...some were great, while others were just plain weird.
Yes, they even mounted rocket pods on the underwings. Eventually they just made a powered version.
