Weather Stations

An important event like this must be recorded and a television camera is here to document the rocket launches.

The crated rockets are ready and loaded onto the APC for transportation to each weather station.

The troops are only going a short distance and they pile onto the APC for the trip.

As the convoy pulls away from the headquarters they camera records the tripto the weather stations.

Weather Stations

The case of rockets is made ready for delivery.

The telemetry section shows all systems function normally.

The crew includes, Air Force, Navy, Army and civilians to handle this big job.

Guards stand by in case of possible sabotage.

Large quantities of supplies are necessary for a job of this magnitude.

Weather Stations

The US Army maintains weather stations to provide up to date weather information to our forces fighting International Communism.

These three stations are staffed by a team of two civilian scientists and two soldiers.

Today they are preparing to launch weather rockets.

Here the headquarters team is preparing to distribute the rockets to each weather station.

The blue rockets will fly into the atmosphere and collect badly needed data.
These are 60mm MPC and Marx figures and MPC vehicles. They are both new recasts and original figures, some as much as 45 years old. I got the weather stations and tents from Gerardo Vazquez from Toy Soldiers Depot, thedustyloft@comcast.net

Starship Troopers

An action shot from above. Galoob Action Fleet Starship Troopers.

A dangerous swarm of bugs.

The humans fight back, who will win?

The bugs just keep coming!

Starship Troopers

By mixing different sci fi sets there are more things you can do, here a Planet 52 rover becomes an armored car for the Galoob Starship Troopers.

The bugs attack out of a rock outcrop.

Large and dangerous these bugs are pretty scary.

Bug combat can get pretty intense.

Starship Troopers

Recently I had a request for photos of my Starship Troopers Figures.

They are from Galoob Action Fleet and are a little bigger than 1/72nd scale.

See them here with a Revell figure and a PAeL Automation in metal.

One of the warrior bugs, they were packaged one bug and two soldiers.

The bugs are probably more in line with 60mm figures but they are impressive. Figures and bugs are pre-assembled and pre-painted. They are about 15 years out of production.

Used Stuff

I got some used figures recently from Randy at Fidelis Models. They are hard plastic 1/72nd scale.

They are various conversions someone did of Fujimi, Hasagawa and other sets.

Some are pretty simple, a mortar bomb, or rifle on them.

A Matchbox Afrika Korps figure with an Esci hard plastic USMC flamethrower.

This guy will end up with my Geo. Washington Brigade, with his mixture of US and German gear.

Plastic Soldier Company vs Matchbox

The style of the new Plastic Soldier Company reminded me of the old Matchbox figures in 1/76th scale. Here is there standing rifleman side by side. PSC is hard plastic 1/72nd scale and the Matchbox guy is 1/76th scale soft plastic.

Here are their kneeling riflemen. While not the same obviously, they do look similar to me.

They both have the oval base, they are actually looking down the sights of their rifle, and they have good surface detail and are a bit flat.

The figures barely overhang the base and the arms are close to the body.

Both sets were made in the UK. Apart from their small size the old Matchbox hold up pretty well even after 20 years.

Tables

Went through the scrap box and tossed together a few bits the other day.

I made a few tables out of doors, metal panels and bits with oil drums. This one is big enough to use as an operating table for a field hospital.

After painting I will glue down a map or other papers to look like a HQ scene.

I glue the drums to a base to make a sturdy platform.

Some of my staff posing with the large table. Revell Germany conversions, PAeL Automaton, Plastic Soldier Company Germans, Caesar Miniatures Panzer Crew, and HaT US Army Tank Riders. Good to see so many different brands and types of figures that all fit together.

Germans

This submachine gunner is really getting into the fully automatic mode. Plastic Soldier Company WWII hard plastic German. Figure has a separate arm better detail.

Soldier moving forward carefuly with rifle.

This is one of the few WWII German machine gun teams with an ammo handler that actually has the ammo belt line up with the feed try on the machine gun.

I like this team with separate heads, these have the original helmets, the set above has the alternate hats.

Crouching man, ready to pop up and shoot or drop down and hide.

Germans

Fast walking advance of a WWII hard plastic German in 1/72nd scale from Plastic Soldier.

A squad leader moving the troops forward.

This pose is a bit awkward. It should have had a separate arm for a better pose.

Cautious advancing pose.

The Germans were well advanced in many areas, but portable army radios were not one of them. They used a two piece radio, as shown here. The radio talking kneeling guy is three pieces.
